Unchained Vibes Africa (UVA) is a cultural organization and social enterprise developing arts and culture projects geared towards social causes. Our mission is to leverage the power of the arts for civic education and promote good governance, human rights, cultural diversity and the spirit of solidarity in Africa. We produce works of art that address social, political, economic and environmental issues in Africa using music, drama, visual arts, spoken word poetry and comedy. UVA helps artists and cultural practitioners to further develop their skills and managerial capacities. We design workshops and professional training in cultural advocacy, copyright protection, entrepreneurship, etc. UVA organizes concerts, talk shows and live performances that highlight social issues, create awareness and sensitize the public. We develop initiatives that encourage respect for cultural diversity and promote intercultural understanding.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and creative Video Editor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in video editing, a passion for cultural content, and the ability to transform raw footage into compelling visual stories. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a strong sense of visual aesthetics, and the ability to create videos that resonate with today’s audiences, including trending formats like short videos with subtitles and dynamic pop-ups.
Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or professional training in video editing from a recognized film school
Experience Level: Mid-level
Experience Length: 2-3 years post-graduation
Key Responsibilities:
- Edit and craft engaging video content for our social media channels, website, and various promotional campaigns.
- Choose and blend the right audio, visuals, colors, animations, and subtitles to make our stories come alive.
- Work closely with our Digital Marketing Specialist and Creative Designer to ensure that our videos reflect our mission and resonate with our audience.
- Stay curious and up-to-date with the latest video editing trends to keep our content fresh and relevant.
- Manage your projects from start to finish, ensuring everything is delivered on time and up to high standards.
- Bring your creative ideas to the table and collaborate with our team to push the boundaries of what our videos can achieve.
- Keep our video assets well-organized and easily accessible for future projects.
Essential Requirements:
- Attention to Detail: You have a sharp eye and make sure every frame is just right.
- Aesthetic Sensitivity: You understand what makes visuals impactful and know how to craft content that stands out online.
- Self-Starter: You’re proactive, able to juggle multiple projects, and meet deadlines without breaking a sweat.
- Adaptability: You’re flexible, comfortable working with different styles and formats, and always ready to embrace the latest trends.
Preferred Skills:
- 2-3 years of experience in video editing, with a portfolio that shows off your best work.
- Proficiency in video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
- A track record of creating compelling content for social media.
- Some knowledge of motion graphics and graphic design is a bonus.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and keep everything on track.
- A collaborative spirit and experience working with a creative team.
Salary Range
Competitive and negotiable based on expertise and experience
