Academie voor Theater en Dans (AHK) in Amsterdam, Netherlands and Ecole des Sables in Toubab Dialaw, Senegal are currently seeking applications for African based dancers to participate in a residency exchange. This exchange between the two institutions aims to enrich, stimulate and develop the creativity of the participants while contributing to building a cultural and artistic bridge between dancers from different countries with different educational and professional backgrounds.
The residency will take place at Ecole des Sables, Toubab Dialaw from 25 February – 26 March 2023. It will support artists seeking an opportunity to research and develop their practices and to engage in dialogue on culture exchange. The exchanges between the two institutions aim to enrich, stimulate and develop the creativity of the participants while helping to build a cultural and artistic bridge between dancers from various countries with different educational and professional backgrounds.
Applying dancers must be under 28 years of age, living and working in the African continent, have experience in improvisational work, have performed before, and be able to discuss various ideas and concepts. They should be open-minded and able to relate to others of different backgrounds and identities.
This is a fully funded residency. Selected dancers will receive a 100% scholarship covering their travel, participation fees, accommodation, foods and local transport.
