Press Release - Lagos, Nigeria – 12 November 2025
UVA, Cate & Jabez Place, and TDR Designs Host Special Green Performance at The Green Festival @ 20 during LABAF 2025

Unchained Vibes Africa (UVA), in collaboration with Cate & Jabez Place and TDR Designs, successfully hosted a Special Green Performance as part of the 20th anniversary celebration of The Green Festival at the Lagos Book and Art Festival (LABAF) 2025.

Held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at The Green Place, Freedom Park, the event featured an immersive and thought-provoking presentation titled “Soro Soke: 5 Years After – Imagining Alternatives,” performed by the versatile artist MOOH. The performance aligned with LABAF 2025’s overarching theme: “CHANGE: Imagining Alternatives – Using Our Minds to Build Better Futures for Our Beloved Country and Its People.”

The programme opened with remarks delivered on behalf of UVA’s Executive Producer, Ayodele Ganiu, by Victor Onyeulor, Production & Event Coordinator at UVA. His message, “Your Art, Your Future! A Message to Nigeria’s Young Creatives,” urged young people to embrace creativity as a powerful form of peaceful expression, especially at a time when traditional avenues of protest face increasing constraints. He encouraged students to use art, music, poetry, and digital storytelling as constructive tools for advocacy, reminding them that “Your art is your megaphone. Your creativity is your shield.”

This was followed by two performances by Mooh- Freedom and Ijo– evocative pieces that blended music, movement, poetry, and symbolic gestures to inspire critical reflection among the teenage audience, three of whom joined Mooh on stage to dance. The programme ended with closing remarks by GQ, after which participants enjoyed light refreshments.

A major highlight of The Green Festival @ 20, the Special Green Performance reaffirmed two decades of environmental awareness, creativity, and cultural education for young people across Lagos. Tailored particularly for teens and secondary school students, the event reinforced the role of art as a peaceful, transformative medium for dialogue, reflection, unity, and civic engagement.

Through its rich mix of music, performance art, and storytelling, the presentation revisited the enduring symbolism of Soro Soke, five years after it became a rallying cry for youth activism in Nigeria. The event encouraged young people to envision alternative futures rooted in freedom, sustainability, justice, and shared responsibility.

Guests were encouraged to attend with a touch of green to signify hope, renewal, and environmental harmony- adding visual coherence to the eco-themed celebration.
