FROM ADVOCACY TO THE SCREEN: DAGA CELL PREMIERES TO GLOBAL AUDIENCE ON TIKTOK

LAGOS, NIGERIA – Unchained Vibes Africa (UVA), in partnership with Northern Nigerian content creators Mubarak Muhammad (popularly known as Unique Pikin) and Nazifi Muhammed, successfully hosted the live premiere of their new short series, Daga Cell, on TikTok LIVE on Friday, July 31, 2026.

The event kicked off at 10:00 p.m. (WAT) via Unique Pikin’s TikTok LIVE channel. Curated by Saifullah Ibrahim (a.k.a Dr Pure), an experienced on-air presenter, rapper and UVA’s Northern Representative, the creative team overcame severe network disruptions caused by heavy rainfall in Kano to deliver a seamless and highly interactive premiere.

From Trial to Triumph

The launch of Daga Cell marks a major milestone in a journey that began with an urgent call for artistic freedom. In late 2022, Unique Pikin and Nazifi faced legal challenges directly linked to their creative work. UVA stood in solidarity with both creators, advocating for their rights and providing sustained support throughout their legal journey.

Daga Cell demonstrates how advocacy, solidarity and practical support can empower artists to channel challenging experiences into impactful storytelling that entertains, educates and inspires public reflection.

“From advocacy to the screen, Daga Cell is a powerful reminder that creativity can endure, stories can inspire and artistic expression must remain free”, said Ayodele Ganiu, UVA Executive Producer.

Key Engagement Highlights

Broadcast live for 1 hour and 22 minutes, the premiere highlighted the growing capacity of digital platforms to bring local African narratives directly to global audiences. Key performance metrics include:

  • Audience Reach: Approximately 1,400 live viewers.
  • High Engagement: Generated 8K likes and 143 comments during the broadcast.
  • Global Footprint: Produced in Hausa with English subtitles, the broadcast drew 62% of its audience from Nigeria and 38% internationally.
  • Community Driven: 48% of viewers joined directly through the Following Feed, reflecting the strong support of UVA’s existing network.
About the Project & Call to Action

Created as a 3-episode mini-series, Daga Cell combines humour, emotion and relatable storytelling to showcase the determination of artists to tell authentic stories without fear.

The mini-series is produced under UVA’s Freedom Vibes on the Move project funded by the Bertha Foundation as a winner of the 2026 Bertha Artivism Award.
