Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive IT Support Officer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide technical support to ensure the smooth running of UVA’s digital systems, networks, and tools, enabling our creative and advocacy projects to thrive. In addition to core IT functions, the officer will play a key role in managing digital rights management (DRM) systems, streaming platforms, and videoconferencing technologies that are vital to UVA’s cultural diplomacy and advocacy work.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-line technical support for staff hardware, software, and network issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, applications, and peripherals.
- Ensure data security and perform regular system backups.
- Manage UVA’s IT equipment inventory and oversee maintenance or upgrades.
- Provide technical support for live-streaming events, webinars, and videoconferencing sessions (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, etc.).
- Support the setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting of streaming platforms and DRM-protected content used in UVA’s projects.
- Collaborate with the creative and program teams to ensure smooth integration of IT into UVA productions and campaigns.
- Stay updated on emerging IT and digital rights solutions to recommend improvements that strengthen UVA’s digital operations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience in IT support, systems administration, or a related role.
- Proficiency with Windows and Mac OS environments, MS Office Suite, Google Workspace, and networking tools.
- Familiarity with digital rights management (DRM) systems, streaming platforms, and videoconferencing troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of data security protocols, cloud storage, and backup solutions.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with digital media, collaborative platforms, and creative software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is an added advantage.
