UVA at Africa Creative Market 2025

On 19 September 2025, Unchained Vibes Africa (UVA) participated in the Africa Creative Market in Lagos. Represented by Executive Producer Ayodele Ganiu, UVA documented how young innovators are using technology to expand the horizons of art, fashion, music, film and storytelling. Their energy and creativity are not only inspiring; they are living proof that Africa’s future is already unfolding.
Yet, as Ayodele listened, exchanged ideas and connected with fellow creatives, one truth remained clear: talent alone is not enough. For creativity to drive true transformation, Africa must create an enabling environment where innovation can thrive. This requires trustworthy leadership and governance that prioritizes people over politics.
If politicians are held accountable and systems that work are demanded, Africa’s creative economy will not just compete on the global stage, it will set the standard. With good governance, Africa will realize its full potential.
At the Market, UVA engaged Dr. Shaibu Husseini, Executive Director/CEO of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB). His recent efforts reflect a genuine commitment to transforming the Board from a body stifling creativity into one that supports and protects cultural expression. Dr. Husseini reiterated his plan to rename the Board from “Censors” to “Classification” – a core part of UVA’s advocacy since the launch of its Freedom Vibes campaign. He emphasized that the only barrier to this change is the pending amendment of the NFVCB Act at the National Assembly. Once passed, the word “Censors” will officially give way to “Classification.”
Being at the Africa Creative Market offered UVA a powerful platform to amplify the voices of African creators, to advocate for policies that protect their work and to remind leaders that it is time governance rises to match the brilliance of our people.
