UVA Presents a Bold New Music Video by AGY - A Story of Resilience and the Struggle for Artistic Freedom.

Lagos, Nigeria – Unchained Vibes Africa (UVA) is set to premiere a compelling new music video by AGY Yakasai on April 3rd, 2025. This virtual premiere, streaming exclusively on UVA’s social media platforms, is more than just a release—it’s a statement.
AGY, a musician who was imprisoned for alleged defamation after a satirical song about a governor of Kano State, uses this video to reclaim his voice. Arrested and denied proper legal representation, AGY was sentenced to two years jail term. With the intervention of the founders of UVA and organizations like the Committee for Relevant Art (CORA), the artist was released after spending one year behind bars. But that injustice remains a stark reminder of the risks artists face.
This music video, produced by Unchained Vibes Africa, takes audiences through AGY’s gripping journey—from his unjust arrest to his experiences in court—all while shedding light on the growing hardships Nigerians endure today. Beyond his personal story, the video speaks to a larger fight: the right of artists—musicians, actors, and digital creators—to express themselves without fear of persecution.
“As an organization committed to defending free expression, we believe this project is more than just music; it is a message,” said Ayodele Ganiu, the executive producer of UVA. “It highlights the resilience of artists in the face of censorship and oppression while calling for a society where creativity is not criminalized.”
The premiere of this video is not just an artistic event, it is a step forward towards artists finding their voices and reclaiming their creative license for the benefit of our society.
Join us on Thursday April 3rd for the exclusive virtual premiere on UVA’s social media channels and be a part of history.
