Unchained Vibes Africa Premieres HER RIGHT: A Powerful Poem by Aisha Indabawa

Lagos, Nigeria: Unchained Vibes Africa (UVA), under its Freedom Vibes on the Move initiative, successfully premiered HER RIGHT on Thursday, June 25, 2026. Held virtually, the event marked the official release of a compelling poetic advocacy project by Aisha Sani Lawan (a.k.a Aisha Indabawa), the winner of the 2025 Freedom Vibes Academy (FVA) Award. The core objective of the project is to shatter the silence that enables the denial of girl child education as a fundamental right.

The virtual event introduced the audience to UVA, setting the stage with a retrospective look at the Freedom Vibes Academy (FVA) journey through throwbacks to 2021, 2023 and 2025 cohorts. During this segment, UVA proudly recognized the top ten most engaging alumni and shared upcoming strategic plans to further support their advocacy initiatives. This celebration of artistic growth paved the way for honoring Aisha’s creative evolution from her emergence as the 2025 FVA Award winner to the realization of her winning vision.

The event’s centerpiece was the highly anticipated premiere of HER RIGHT. This compelling visual story boldly addressed the systemic barriers that young girls face, leveraging poetry to advocate for their education, protection and fundamental human rights.

Following the screening, the focus shifted to the Featured Artist Spotlight with Aisha, sparking a powerful conversation on the resilience of the girl child. During the interview, critical questions were posed to explore her creative journey and future advocacy, including how the Freedom Vibes Academy contributed to bringing this campaign to life, her experience directing the production in collaboration with UVA, and how the video would be used to amplify the campaign for girl-child education. Aisha addressed these questions with profound intelligence and clarity, leaving the audience inspired by her vision.

The audience was moved by the poetry which directly addressed the fundamental questions surrounding the issue of girl-child education in Nigeria. This engaging dialogue expanded into Q&A, where participants and the general audience explored actionable ways that society could better protect and nurture young girls’ ambitions.

Ultimately, the premiere successfully reinforced UVA’s core belief in the power of art as a vehicle for social transformation, demonstrating how creative expression serves as a vital tool for civic engagement, before concluding with official closing remarks and a heartfelt vote of thanks.

HER RIGHT stands as a testament to the purpose of the Freedom Vibes Academy: to empower artists as active agents of change. By providing a platform for Aisha’s vision, UVA continues to champion arts-driven campaigns that shift public mindsets and empower marginalized voices.

As one of the winners of the Bertha Artivism Award 2026, the successful premiere of HER RIGHT by UVA is a key milestone in the Freedom Vibes on the Move initiative supported by the Bertha Foundation.

UVA remains committed to harnessing creative production for grassroots mobilization and policy advocacy.
