Kola Alapinni wins the Study UK Alumni Social Action Award

Since 2020, Mr Kola Alapinni has been a force in our pursuit of protecting artistic freedom in Nigeria. He doesn’t just practice law; he uses it as a tool for transformative social action! UVA has partnered with Mr. Alapinni to defend the rights of creatives, including his leadership role in the appeal against the death sentence of singer Yahaya Sharif-Aminu. He contributed to our landmark legal victory that nullified the criminal charges against filmmaker Hajiya Amart and collaborated with us in influencing law enforcement policies, resulting in a pause of mandatory police approvals for skit makers. 

 

Mr. Alapinni has contributed to UVA’s achievements in empowering the next generation of socially conscious artists with vital legal knowledge at our Freedom Vibes Academy.
